The Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA Announces The Appointment Of Three New Board Members Matt Manders, Pete Retzlaff & Gloria Watson

[Philadelphia, PA] September 1, 2014, – For their strong leadership and service to the Philadelphia community, Matt Manders, President, Regional and Operations for Cigna, Pete Retzlaff, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles and Gloria Watson, President of the Mid Atlantic Region AIG Property Casualty, have been appointed to serve on the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA Board of Directors. They will join a board of powerful men and women in the Greater Philadelphia area, who shape policies and assist in making important decisions for the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA.

Throughout a 27-year career at Cigna, Manders has worked to transform the company into a premier provider of health care services in the Delaware Valley. In his current role, Manders is responsible for ensuring that Cigna strikes a balance between access, quality and cost of care, while also leading the Regional, Select and Group businesses, Underwriting and Informatics.

Pete Retzlaff, nicknamed “Pistol Pete” and “The Baron”, is a former professional American football player. After serving in the United States Army, Retzlaff was recruited by the Philadelphia Eagles to play the postitions of Wide Receiver and Tight End. During his 11 seasons with the Eagles, Retzlaff was selected to the Pro Bowl five times, and won the Bert Bell Award for NFL Player of the Year. Retzlaff’s number 44 jersey was retired by the Eagles.

Watson’s first postition with AIG was as an Underwriter in Risk Management. Throughout her tenure, she has accrured increasing levels of responsibility in key management and leadership positions in Underwriting, Sales and Marketing, National Accounts and General Field Management. She currently serves as Senior Executive over the production, profitability, marketing, sales, service and personnell operations for her territory of over five states and the District of Columbia. In addition, she is also active in the local community. She currently sits on the Board of Governors for the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance at St. Joesph’s University and is a Walnut Street Theatre Board Member.

The Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA is honored to add community leaders of Manders, Retzlaff and Watson’s caliber to its volunteer Board of Directors.
