Philadelphia Freedom Valley Y names new Chief Operating Officer

[Conshohocken, PA] July 18, 2017 – The Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA (PFVY) announced today that Joseph Collins has joined the organization as the new
Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO, Collins will lead the operations for one of the largest YMCA Associations in the country with 16 facility locations from Berks to Delaware counties and an overnight camp in the Poconos. In his role, Collins will assume responsibility for Membership and YMCA branches, Childcare and Camp Speers YMCA, the overnight camp in the Poconos. He will report directly to Shaun Elliott, President & CEO.

Collins comes to the Y from Teavana at Starbucks where he served as a Regional Director overseeing 70 stores across a wide geographical territory. Before Teavana, Collins spent 12-years with Big Box retailers including The Home Depot and Target, where he held a number of executive- and management-level positions. While at Target, Collins was instrumental in optimizing performance and leading growth strategies for hundreds of retail locations.

Collins began his career with Deloitte Consulting as a Senior Global Consultant and provided honorable military service with the US Army as Signal Officer, Engineering/Plans Officer and Operations Officer/Platoon Leader. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Tuskegee University (Magna Cum Laude) and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
