Child Care

Mt. Laurel

With so many demands on today’s families, parents need all the support they can get.

That’s why Child Care at the Y is about more than looking after kids. It’s about nurturing their development by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Educational Child Care Program and Preschool

Building Strong Foundations

The Y mission of building strong kids, families, and communities starts with our youngest Y-members! The YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties recognizes the importance of quality early child care and education. Our programs are values-based and use Creative Curriculum to impact academic performance and social and physical development, while building a foundation for a lifetime of healthy living. Through child care at the Y, children learn and grow to find a successful start in kindergarten and beyond.

YMCA Teacher Standards

We hold our staff to the highest standards. Each lead teacher is required to have a minimum of a Child Development Associates credential. All full time staff must receive 24 credit hours of training per year in order to work in our program and are certified in First Aid & C.P.R.

Creative Curriculum

The Early Child Care and Pre-K programs of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties has adopted the Creative Curriculum which is a frame work for teaching that addresses all aspects of the child’s development and is comprised of five components:

  • The Learning Environment
  • What Children Learn
  • How Children Develop and Learn
  • The Teacher’s Role
  • The Family’s Role

Our staff creates monthly goals for your child, and we use each of the four focus areas as a guideline to plan weekly lessons based on monthly themes that support all areas of a child’s development. Our main areas of concentration are as follows:

  • Social/Emotional Development
  • learn about self and others
  • Physical Development
  • learn about moving
  • Cognitive Development
  • learn about the world
  • Language Development
  • learn about communicating
