If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations today. This tool automatically links with your DAF, allows you to recommend how you’d like your gift to be used and notifies the Y of your intentions. It’s a great way to ensure consistent financial support while saving cash for immediate needs.

Can I donate to a specific program or YMCA location?
Yes! The Greater Philadelphia YMCA allows donors to designate their gifts to both specific branch locations and, in many cases, specific programs or funds. If you don't designate a purpose, your donations is used where it is needed most across the Association. Gifts can be made online, or if giving by check you can designate your gift by noting the designation in the memo line. If you are making a major gift or want to support something very specific (for example scholarships, capital improvements, or a new initiative), it's best to work directly with the Financial Development team so they can support your gift.

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA uses charitable donations to create and expand access to YMCA programs and strengthen communities.
What programs are funded by donations?
Gifts support early childhood education, before and after school programs, summer camps, teen leadership, youth civic engagement, academic enrichment, mentoring, summer camp, swim lessons, youth sports, evidence-based health and wellness initiatives, and facility improvements.
