DAY OF SERVICE FOR YMCA TEENS THIS MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

WHAT: Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCAs Y-Achievers Service Day

WHEN: Monday, January 18, 2016

WHERE: Nationalities Service Center 1216 Arch St Philadelphia, PA 19107 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Valley Forge National Park Visitor’s Center 1400 N Outer Line Dr King Of Prussia, PA 19406 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM

WHY: What a great opportunity to cover teens in the Philadelphia and surrounding counties giving back to their community.

Students volunteering at the Nationalities Service Center will be viewing Meh Sha, a privately produced NSC film and the topic for discussion with is refugees. The Achievers will be finishing up their day making welcome bags for newly immigrated families in the Philadelphia area.

Students volunteering at Valley Forge National Park will be viewing Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech, followed by a group activity. Achievers will be dispersed throughout the park to clean up pathways, pull weeds, etc.
