The EPYGGL is the Eastern Pennsylvania YMCA Gymnastics League. The League consists of gymnasts levels 4-9 from YMCAs located in our general area. These are the YMCAs that we compete against in our regular season meets. The following YMCAs are part of our local league:
- YMCA of the Brandywine Valley
- Hatboro YMCA
- Madison YMCA
- Northeast YMCA
- Phoenixville YMCA
- Upper Bucks YMCA
- York YMCA
While all gymnastics in the United States follows the rules and regulations issued by the FIG and USAG organizations, local leagues are responsible for the conduct of all local meets. The members of the EPYGGL have met and agreed to a set of rules for the conduct of our league meets.
The competing age of a gymnast for the League season is determined by their age on the 31st of December of that year.
To be eligible to compete in a league meet, a gymnast must be registered with the league and have an assigned number by the league secretary.
To be eligible for a league championship, a gymnast must be registered by December 31st of that competitive season and compete in two regular seasons league meets (Level 4) and three regular season meets (all other levels). Gymnast registering after December 31st may compete in regular season league meets only. She may enter in any one, two, three or all four events at her age level.
A gymnast, who competes in a USAG or Eastern PA YMCA league meet, may not drop back to a lower level for the entire season. Mandated move-up All-Around scores are:
- Level 3 to Level 4: 34.00
- Level 4 to Level 5: 34.00
- Level 5 to Level 6: 34.00
- Level 6 to Level 7: 36.00
- Level 7 to Level 8: 34.00
- Level 8 to Level 9: 36.00
- Xcel: No mandate score at this time

Our higher level gymnasts have the opportunity to participate in USA Gymnastics meets. These are competitive meets that are held outside of our YMCA league schedule. Participation at USAG meets is voluntary and in addition to (not in replacement of) participation in our YMCA regular season meets. Any gymnast is eligible to compete in USAG meets, and typically one of our coaching staff will attend a USAG meet with the gymnasts who choose to compete at it.
This program is run based on level of interest. This year, we have not had enough gymnasts show an interest to justify the expenses and energy for attending additional USAG meets this year, but we will re-evaluate again next year. If anyone does have an interest, contact Darlene at 215-674-4545 ext. 1107.
